Google review checker

Look up any business on Google. See its rating, review count and latest reviews, how it compares with its industry, and how many 5-star reviews it needs to reach 4.5★.

What the Google review checker shows

  • Rating and review count, as Google Maps shows them right now.
  • The latest reviews Google shares (up to five), newest first.
  • Where the business stands: its industry's median rating and review count from our own study.
  • The 5-star reviews it needs to reach 4.5★ (or 4.8★ when it is already there).

How the industry comparison works

We measured 38,547 businesses on Google Maps in 50 industries between 2026-08-23 and 2026-09-18. Across all of them the median rating is 4.8★ and the median is 92 reviews. The checker picks the industry from the business's Google category and name. If it guesses wrong, choose another one. See every industry in the Google review benchmarks.

How many 5-star reviews to reach 4.5★?

New 5★ reviews = n × (4.5 − r) ÷ 0.5, rounded up, where n is the review count and r the rating. A business at 4.3★ with 80 reviews needs about 32. Pick any target in the star rating calculator.

What a checker can't show you

Google's public data has no owner replies, and only five reviews. So no outside checker can tell you which reviews still wait for an answer or how fast you reply. Connect your Google Business Profile and ReputeMap shows every review, marks the ones without a reply and drafts each answer for you to approve.

Checking a business with many locations?

The multi-location review check lists every location of a brand with its rating and review count in one table, with the weakest three on top.

Answer every Google review in minutes

ReputeMap brings every new review to one inbox, drafts the reply in your voice and alerts you to bad reviews in minutes.

Frequently asked questions

How do I check a business's Google reviews?

Type the business name in the checker above and pick it from the list. You see its Google rating, how many reviews it has, its latest reviews, how it compares with its industry and how many 5-star reviews it needs to reach 4.5★.

Is the Google review checker free?

Yes, with no signup. Each check is a live Google lookup, and free Google lookups are limited each day and shared by our free tools. After that, the free trial shows every review of your own business, not just five.

Why do I see only five reviews?

Google shares at most five reviews of a business with outside tools, and it picks them. To see every review, connect your Google Business Profile to ReputeMap.

Can I see whether the owner replied?

Not here. Google's public data does not include owners' replies. After you connect your Google Business Profile, ReputeMap shows which reviews have no reply and drafts one for each.

How is my rating compared with my industry?

We compare it with our own study of 38,547 Google Maps listings in 50 industries. We guess the industry from the business's Google category and name; you can pick another one.

How accurate is the number of reviews needed?

It is an estimate. Google rounds ratings to one decimal, and the math assumes every new review is 5 stars. Use it as a goal, not an exact count.
