Agency Margin and Markup Calculator

What reselling Google review management leaves your agency each month: revenue, ReputeMap's cost per location, gross and net margin, markup and break-even. The prices are ReputeMap's published plans, and the math is written out under the calculator.

In short: ReputeMap charges an agency one flat monthly price for a band of client locations, so with the plan full the software costs $0.95 (Network, 200 locations) to $5.80 (Starter, 5 locations) per client location a month, and $1.63 on Pro, the first plan with white-label. Until the plan is full, each new client adds revenue and no software cost; your team's time is the cost that grows with every client, so the calculator counts it too.

12 clients with 18 locations at $149 a client bring in $1,788 a month. Pro covers them for $49 a month ($2.72 a location), leaving $1,739 gross (97.3%, a 36.5× markup). After 1 hour a client at $50/h, $1,139 a month is left (63.7%).

The math, step by step

The calculator does eight steps. Here they are with the default scenario's numbers; they follow your inputs as you change them.

  1. Revenue = 12 clients × $149 a month = $1,788/mo
  2. ReputeMap plan = 18 locations with white-label → Pro = $49/mo
  3. Software per location = $49 ÷ 18 locations = $2.72
  4. Gross margin = $1,788 − $49 = $1,739/mo (97.3%)
  5. Markup on software = $1,788 ÷ $49 = 36.5×
  6. Your time = 12 clients × 1 hour × $50/h = $600/mo
  7. Net margin = $1,739 − $600 = $1,139/mo (63.7%)
  8. Break-even = ⌈$49 ÷ $149⌉ = 1 client

Not included: card fees, taxes and what it costs to win a client. The plan is the cheapest one whose locations cover all your clients' locations (Pro or above when the reports carry your brand); past a plan's cap you move up a plan, with no add-ons.

Before you quote a client

  • Your time is the real cost. Software is a few dollars a location; an account manager's hour is not. Margins hold when replies are drafted for approval and reports go out on a schedule, and they vanish when someone writes every reply by hand.
  • Per client or per location. A flat fee per client is simplest up to two or three locations; above that, a falling per-location rate is what multi-location owners compare. Our guide to how much to charge for reputation management has the three tiers agencies use and what to bill extra.
  • Put the price in the proposal. The free reputation management proposal template has an investment table with three tiers, a per-location line and an onboarding fee, plus KPI targets to agree on before you start.
  • Show what the client will receive. A sample white-label report (PDF) makes the monthly deliverable concrete before anyone signs.

Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate my margin on reselling review management?

Revenue minus software. Multiply your monthly fee by the clients (or locations) it applies to, then subtract the ReputeMap plan that covers all your client locations; divide by revenue for the margin percentage, and subtract your team's hours for the net.

Which ReputeMap plan should an agency use?

Count every location across all your clients and take the plan that covers them: Starter 5 ($29/mo), Growth 15 ($39/mo), Pro 30 ($49/mo), Portfolio 75 ($149/mo), Network 200 ($189/mo); Solo ($19/mo) covers one location. White-label reports start on Pro, so if clients should see your brand rather than your workspace name, start there. The calculator picks the cheapest plan that fits.

What markup do agencies put on review management software?

Most agencies charge $99–$199 per client a month for core reputation management (the range SiteSwan reports across its reseller network). ReputeMap's Pro plan works out to $1.63 a location with all 30 in use, so the markup on the software alone runs past 20×. What the client really pays for is your team's time, which is why the calculator asks for it.

Does the calculator include labor, fees and taxes?

It includes your team's time when you enter hours per client and an hourly cost. It leaves out card fees, taxes and the cost of winning the client: subtract those from the net margin.

What if my clients have more than 200 locations?

Network covers up to 200 locations for $189/mo, the largest published plan. Above that, write to yaro@reputemap.com.

Can I resell ReputeMap under my own brand?

Yes, from Pro ($49/mo): your logo, colors and brand name go on the PDF reports, the client portal and the review-ask page. On the plans below it, reports and the portal carry your workspace name with no logo. The sample white-label report on our reports page shows what a client receives.
