Google Review Link & QR Code Chrome Extension

ReputeMap: Google Review Link & QR Code is a free Chrome extension that gets the direct Google review link for any business on Google Maps. Open the business, click the icon, and copy the link or its Place ID, download a QR code or print review cards. The link is built on your computer from the page's address: no Google API, no account, nothing sent anywhere.

What the popup gives you

Everything below comes from one click on a business's Google Maps page.

The ReputeMap popup for Joe's Pizza: Google review link with Copy, Place ID ChIJ8Q2WSpJZwokRQz-bYYgEskM with Copy, a QR code, Download PNG, Download SVG, Test the link, the Made with ReputeMap.com checkbox, Print a review card and a free check of how Joe's Pizza looks on Google
  1. The review link

search.google.com/local/writereview?placeid=…, copied in one click. It opens the business's "write a review" form directly.

  2. The Place ID

The ChIJ… ID Google gives the listing, for any tool or form that asks for it.

  3. A QR code

PNG (about 1000 px) or SVG, which stays sharp at any print size. A small gray "Made with ReputeMap.com" line goes under the code; untick it to leave it off.

  4. Test the link

Opens the review form in a new tab, so you see what your customers will see before you share it.

  5. Printable review cards

A table tent, postcards or business cards, on US Letter or A4.

  6. A free check

Opens reputemap.com with that business's Google rating and reviews. Only if you click it.

How it works

The link opens Google's "write a review" form for that business directly, so customers don't have to search for you and scroll to the reviews.

  1. Google Maps in Chrome with the Joe's Pizza listing open: the photo, the name, 4.4 stars and the Overview tab; the ReputeMap icon is pinned in the toolbar
    Step 1

Open the business on Google Maps

Yours or a client's, in Chrome on a computer. Search for it and click it, so its listing opens.

  2. The ReputeMap icon highlighted in Chrome's toolbar and its popup open below it, showing Joe's Pizza's Google review link with a Copy button, the Place ID and a QR code
    Step 2

    Click the ReputeMap icon

Pin it once from the puzzle-piece menu and it stays in the toolbar. The popup opens with the link already built.

  3. The popup after Copy: the Copy button reads Copied, next to the Place ID, the QR code, Download PNG, Download SVG, Test the link and Print a review card
    Step 3

    Copy, download or print

Paste the link into a text, an email or an invoice. Save the QR code, or print cards for the counter.

Ways to use the link, and what to say when you ask, are in our guide to getting more Google reviews. Add it to Chrome.

Find a Google Place ID, or start from one

Every business on Google Maps has a Place ID, a code that starts with ChIJ. Review links, QR generators and many booking and marketing tools ask for it.

  • On a business's Maps page, the popup shows the Place ID under the review link, with its own Copy button.
  • On any other page, click the icon and paste a Place ID, a Google Maps business link, a place_id link or an existing Google review link. You get the same link, QR code and cards. If the popup can't use what you pasted, it says why.

How the link is built. A Google Maps business address carries the place's feature ID, two hexadecimal numbers (0x…:0x…). The Place ID is the same two numbers packed into a few bytes and written in base64, so the extension converts one into the other on your computer. No Google API, no server, no account.

The popup's start screen: two steps (open the business on Google Maps, click the ReputeMap icon), an Open Google Maps button, and a field with a Place ID pasted next to a Get link button
Away from Google Maps: paste a Place ID or a link.

What the extension can see, and what it can't

  • One permission: activeTab. When you click the icon, the extension reads the address and title of that tab, once. It can't see your other tabs or the sites you visit, and it adds nothing to the pages you open.
  • Nothing is collected. No analytics, no tracking, no account. Your card settings (size, paper, headline) stay in your own browser.
  • Links open only when you click them. Test the link opens Google's review form. The free check opens reputemap.com with that business's Place ID and name.
  • Two pages open on their own: a short welcome page on reputemap.com, once, after you install it, and a page where you can say why, if you remove it.

The one suggestion it makes. After you copy, download or print, this card may show, at most once every 3 days. The × closes it.
The popup's suggestion card: 'Send this link to every customer automatically and hear about every 1–3★ review in minutes', a Try ReputeMap for free button and a close button

What it doesn't do

  • It works on business listings only. A street address or an area has no reviews, so the extension says so instead of making a link that leads nowhere.
  • Short share links need opening first. A maps.app.goo.gl link doesn't show the business until it's opened. Open it in the tab, then click the icon.
  • Desktop only. It needs Chrome 105 or newer on a computer; Chrome on phones doesn't run extensions.
  • The QR code doesn't count scans. It points straight at Google's form, with nothing in between to count who scanned it.
  • A Google account is still needed to post. Google asks every reviewer to sign in, whatever link they arrive from. If a link looks broken when you test it, see Google review link not working.
  • It isn't Google's. ReputeMap is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Google.

Extension or web tool?

All of these make the same kind of link to the same Google review form. Pick by where you are.

Free extension vs ReputeMap

What the extension does, and what ReputeMap adds

A review link brings reviews only when someone sends it: to every customer, every week, at every location. The extension stops at the link. ReputeMap does the asking, watches what comes back and drafts your replies.

Why teams with several locations use ReputeMap

In most chains one location answers every review within a day and another leaves them for weeks. ReputeMap puts them side by side, and on Growth and up a dashboard shows each location's reply rate and response time.

Every location's reviews in one inbox

ReputeMap negative-review alert settings with demo data: which star ratings alert you, and the email, Telegram and WhatsApp channels Demo data

An alert the day a 1–3★ review lands

By email, Telegram or WhatsApp, with the review text and a way to reply. No bad review sits unseen for a week.

ReputeMap review links and QR codes with demo data: a link per location, a form to email one customer, and the active links with their clicks Demo data

Review requests that count every click

Try it on your own locations

Questions about the extension

Something else? Write to yaro@reputemap.com.

Is the ReputeMap Chrome extension free?

Yes. It's free, with no account, no trial and no card, and it works without a ReputeMap account. After you copy a link, download a QR code or print a card, it may suggest trying ReputeMap, at most once every 3 days. Close the suggestion and it's gone.

How do I get a Google review link with the extension?

Open the business on Google Maps in Chrome, click the ReputeMap icon in the toolbar and press Copy. The link is the direct search.google.com/local/writereview?placeid=… address, which opens the business's Google review form without any searching.

Can I make a QR code for Google reviews with it?

Yes. The popup shows a QR code for the review link, which you can download as a PNG (about 1000 px) or an SVG that stays sharp at any print size. Print a review card from the same popup: a table tent, postcards or business cards, on US Letter or A4.

How do I find a business's Google Place ID?

Open the business on Google Maps and click the ReputeMap icon. The Place ID, which starts with ChIJ, sits under the review link with its own Copy button. The extension reads it from the page's address, so there's nothing to look up.

Does the extension collect or send my data?

No. It asks only for the activeTab permission: it reads the address and title of the tab you click it on, at that moment, and builds the link on your computer. There's no Google API call, no analytics and no tracking. Nothing leaves your browser unless you click one of the popup's links: the free check, for example, opens reputemap.com with that business's Place ID and name.

Does it work for a business I don't own?

Yes. It works for any business listing on Google Maps, yours or a client's. Building a review link doesn't need access to the Business Profile, so agencies can make links, QR codes and cards for every client.

Does it work on a phone or in Microsoft Edge?

Not on a phone: Chrome on phones doesn't run extensions, so use the free review link generator on reputemap.com there. On a computer it needs Chrome 105 or newer. Microsoft Edge can add it from the Chrome Web Store once you allow extensions from other stores, which Edge offers on the store page.

Send the link to every customer, and hear about every 1–3★ review

ReputeMap asks your customers for reviews by email and QR code, puts every location's reviews in one inbox, drafts your replies and alerts you when a 1–3★ review lands.
